Hello Jefferson Park and Rec Families,

What a year we have had! I hope that you all have remained safe during these wild fires and the hazardous air- what a way to end summer 2020. I wanted to apologize for taking so long to reach out to all of you in regard to fall sports. We have been working on an outline and plan for the following months that will be tentatively in place through the spring. Please keep in mind that things change so often, that this plan may very well change in the months to come.

As I’m sure you’ve gathered, fall sports will not be happening this fall. OSAA has a great timeline that we plan to follow for middle school sports. In this timeline “season 1” will begin in October and will be strictly practice times for each season of sports. Season 2 begins in January with regular winter sports, fall sports will be played between winter and spring sports. For a more detailed timeline please reach out to the coach or as always you can reach out to me.

As for k-6 sports please see the following memo. If you would like a credit, refund or to donate your sports fees to Park and Rec, please reach out to me at Meagan.semanski@jefferson.k12.or.us or for any and all questions and concerns.

Stay Safe

Memorandum
Jefferson Park and Recreation Fall Sports Plan

From: Meagan Semanski; District Director

Subject: Elementary Fall Sports Plan

Due to the current state surrounding COVID-19 below you will find the plan for k-6 fall sports through the Jefferson Park and Recreation District.

As most of you know, we are a part of the Valley League in regard to our sports programs and competitions. After reaching out to several organization heads within the Valley League and in following suit with the OSAA decision made on August 5, 2020, Jefferson Park and Rec will not be offering traditional fall sports this fall. A sports credit, refund or returned check will be given to those who have signed up for the fall season.

Although restrictions and guidelines are ever changing, we have a tentative plan set in place that follows the OSAA timeline (keeping in mind, things will probably continue to change) as well as follows the JMS plan for each season. Because we are part of a larger organization, this plan remains tentative until a final decision is made at the higher level within the Valley League

As of right now, the plan is to offer various sports clinics/ activities beginning in October. These activities will abide by all state and local guidelines. We will offer these as we see interest from the k-6 community. Winter sports will begin in January, fall sports will begin in March and spring sports in May.

2020 Summer Sports update

Hello Sports Families,

What a wild ride we have been on these last couple months, I hope that among all the scary and crazy that you have remained healthy and found little ways to enjoy time with your family and loved ones. I know at my house we have been doing wild science experiments and messy arts and crafts almost daily.

I know that we have all been anxiously waiting to hear about summer sports, and unfortunately today I am the barer of bad news. The JBO state board as well as the Valley League Softball has decided it was in the best interest to forego a summer season due to the health risk along with the delayed start and strict regulations in each county. I know this is not the outcome any of us wanted, however all of those decisions were made with everyone’s best interest at heart.

Here at the Jefferson Park and Recreation we are working on ways to help get you and your kids outside and active this summer. In May we hosted the May Miracle Mile, and we will be working over the next couple of weeks on a few more ideas that not only abide by the social distancing guidelines, but also offer some fun outside activities for all of our community members.

Below are the options for your summer sports fees, please let me know what you would like me to do;
  • Refund
  • Account Credit
  • Donation
Please let me know the name of the child/children that were signed up, the grade and sport/sports they were signed up for. I will also need to know what action you would like to take.

If you choose a refund, and you paid online, a refund will be issued back to the card you paid with, if you paid in office or mailed in a payment please provide me with the mailing address you would like your refund sent to. Refunds will be mailed out July 1st.

If you choose to have a credit added to your account, it can be used for future sports, added towards fees you may have accrued in the past or for use at the pool towards memberships, swimming lessons etc.

If you wish to donate your sports fee to the Jefferson Park and Recreation District, please provide a mailing address so we can send a receipt for tax purposes. You can decide where your donation goes. For example, you can ask that your sport fee go into a "scholarship" type fund to help an athlete in the future, you can ask that it go towards equipment, pool passes etc.

Thank you all for your patience and understanding during this time. Please feel free to contact me directly if you have questions and concerns. Stay healthy and enjoy your summer, a fall sports update will be sent out soon outlining what fall sports will look like for us this year.

2020 Spring and summer sports update

Hi all,

Although times seem scary and a bit unpredictable right now, we have been working on plans with other community sports programs to try and salvage spring and summer sports at both the elementary and middle school level. As a lot of you know, sports/ youth activities are such a positive and crucial outlet for kids. We are working hard to figure out and modify the season so that spring and summer sports can still happen; spring sports will be assessed after April 28th and summer sports will be figured out mid to late May. With all of that being said, we are taking it day by day as things still seem to be changing daily.

We are still offering refunds/ credits to anyone who would like one. We understand that these are uncertain times, and want to make this process as easy on you as possible. We will be starting the refund process April 1st. If you are someone who would like a refund please email me with the name of your child/ children, the sport/sports that you paid for, and the address you would like your check mailed to. If you would like to pull your child from sports, but would just like us to credit your account for future sports or pool use, please email me with the same information above, but this time indicate what you would like the credit to go towards. Please note that nothing has been cancelled at this time, all sports are just postponed until further notice.

Furthermore, during this time, the Park and Rec office will be closed to the public. Please e-mail or call and leave a voicemail and we will get back to you as quickly as possible.

Meagan.semanski@jefferson.k12.or.us or 541-327-3581

Thank you all for your understanding as we work through this together, stay safe and well.

Due to the recent developments surrounding COVID-19 school has been closed through April 28th meaning all sports will be suspended during this time as well. We will begin the refund process April 1st for spring sports. Families can choose a full refund (which will be a check mailed to you), a credit for future sports, or a credit to be used at the pool this summer.

With things changing daily, summer sports will be addressed May 1st and more information about summer sports will be out at that time.

As always, feel free to email me at Meagan.semanski@jefferson.k12.or.us

As I’m sure you all know by now, Oregon schools have been closed until April 1st to help slow the spread of COVID-19. Sports through Jefferson Park and Rec have been put on hold during this time as well. We will continue to work with the school district as well as follow the state of Oregon guidelines during this time. We hope to be able to continue on with all spring sports once we return. We will re-evaluate the situation as we get closer to April 1st. We will not be holding regular office ours during this time but please feel free to email me with questions or concerns at Meagan.semanski@jefferson.k12.or.us thank you all for your understanding and cooperation during this time.

Summer Sports 2017

Jefferson Park & Recreation provided summer ball experience for 10 teams from T-Ball through senior level (ages 13-14) baseball.  Four of our baseball and softball teams advanced to post league play-offs.  In addition to summer ball, multiple camps and clinics were held.  We also sponsored a swim team – which will be included in the November Newsletter as we tally up the 2017 swim season – which just closed on September 28th.
Jefferson hosted three District Play-off Tournaments in July – which accounted for nine days of top level play. These tournaments decided who would represent the “Valley League District in the state tournament.
